This privacy policy applies to all products, extensions, and services built by Sanjay Shankar, including the Page Marker Chrome extension and any other browser extensions or tools published under this developer account.
What We Collect
Our extensions and tools are designed to store data locally on your device only. Specifically:
- Page Marker — Stores URLs, page titles, scroll positions, and timestamps using Chrome’s local storage API. This data never leaves your browser.
- Website (sanjayshankar.me) — This site does not use tracking cookies, analytics scripts, or any form of visitor tracking. No personal data is collected when you browse.
What We Do NOT Collect
We do not collect, store, or transmit:
- Personally identifiable information (names, emails, addresses)
- Financial or payment information
- Authentication credentials or passwords
- Health information
- Location data
- Browsing history beyond what you explicitly choose to save within the extension
- Any form of telemetry or usage analytics
Third-Party Services
- Page Marker fetches favicons from Google’s public favicon service (
www.google.com/s2/favicons) to display site icons in the popup. This request contains only the domain name (e.g.,github.com) — never the full URL or any user data.
No other third-party services, analytics platforms, or advertising networks are used in any of our products.
Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, trade, or transfer any user data to third parties. Since all data is stored locally on your device, there is nothing to share.
Data Retention & Deletion
All data is stored exclusively on your device. You can delete it at any time by:
- Using the “Clear All” feature within the extension
- Uninstalling the extension from your browser
- Clearing your browser’s extension storage
Data is automatically removed when the extension is uninstalled.
Children’s Privacy
Our products are not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13.
Changes to This Policy
This privacy policy may be updated from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will reflect any changes. Continued use of our products after changes constitutes acceptance.
